Essay: Bringing December Back

My journey to motherhood has a few chapters which if it were a book, would read something like this: That Thing the Doctors Saw Otherwise (on adenomyosis); Angels Exist and I Saw One in February (on grieving); The Surrender to the Knife (on surgical procedures); The Holy Journey (on child adoption); But I Still Have Some Eggs (on hope); The Doctor Said, We Don’t Have Enough Eggs (on despair); and God, I Didn’t Plan to Intrude on Someone Else’s Vagina (on surrogacy).

But these are their own stories. Today, I wish to share one particular part of it — my birthday.
