GloPoWriMo/NaPoWriMo Day 5: Laughing is a Key

Today’s prompt challenges to write a new poem that has the shape of the original, and in which every line starts with the first letter of the corresponding line in the original poem. My poem is based on the poem Living is a Fire by Ben Okri.

Laughing to life
teaches, braving our fears in
calmness.

When tears flow
take them as keys.
Walk inside yourself
intending to introduce the
tenant
deserving to
open the
highest drawer of
wetland to grow acceptance
around your outside.
Walk with swing
telling the inside
ours is faith.

Tap gently
over the windows.
Harbour no shame of reasons
wasting living.
Then get to work;
taping the frames not
on lease.

Mind your heart
handling
rational excuses.
Terms that revoke
access to whole self
are no longer valid.
Space out junk
adding the volume of tears.
Verify the inside owner by
ousting the invader
free renting the rooms
in your inside.
End their contract, and
cancel tempting deposits,
offending self.

Laughing to life
teaches, facing our shame is
courage.
