I am Rising Until You Love Me

Listen to the poem I am Rising Until You Love Me

*1 Billion Rising on Valentine’s Day 2013. How are you rising? I am through a poem.

I am rising
to the top of the heavens
and the stars above,
until I stand upright.

I am rising
from the cowardness
of the one I chose,
but who silenced my freedom.

I am rising
from the shadow
of the one I married,
but who shamed me publicly.

I am rising
from the love
of the one I sought,
but who condemned me to genocide.

I am rising
from the shielding
of the one I ran to,
but who exposed me to mutilation.

I am rising
from the filthy hands
of the one I trusted,
but who raped me mercilessly.

I am rising
to the height of greatness
and pride in my being,
until you love me.

Nitasimama Mpaka Unipende (Swahili Version)

Listen to the poem Nitasimama Mpaka Unipende

Nitasimama,
kima cha urefu wa mbingu,
na nyota zake hewani,
mpaka nisimame wima.

Nitasimama,
kutoka kwenye uoga,
wa niliyemchagua,
lakini akaninyamazisha uhuru wangu.

Nitasimama,
kutoka kivuli,
cha aliyenioa,
lakini akanitia aibu hadharani.

Nitasimama,
kutoka kwenye mapenzi,
ya niliyempenda,
lakini akanilaani kwa mauaji ya halaiki.

Nitasimama,
kutoka kwenye ngao,
za niliyemkimbilia,
lakini akanikabidhi kwenye ulemavu.

Nitasimama,
kutoka mikono michafu,
ya yule niliyemuamini,
lakini akanibaka bila huruma.

Nitasimama,
kima cha urefu wa utukufu,
na sifa ya utu wangu,
mpaka unipende.

Ich Erhebe Mich Bis Du Mich Liebst (Deutsch Version)

Das Gedicht hören Ich Erhebe Mich Bist Du Mich Liebst

Ich erhebe mich,
zum Himmel empor,
und den Sternen darüber,
bis ich aufrecht stehe.

Ich erhebe mich,
aus der Feigheit,
die ich aussuchte,
die meine Freiheit zum schweigen brachte.

Ich erhebe mich,
aus dem Schatten,
welches ich heiratete,
der mich öffentlich beschämte.

Ich erhebe mich,
von der Liebe,
die ich suchte,
welche mich zum Genozid verdammte.

Ich erhebe mich,
aus der Abschirmung,
zur der ich mal rannte,
die mich der Verstümmelung aussetzte.

Ich erhebe mich,
von den dreckigen Händen,
denen ich vertraute,
die mich so gnadenlos vergewaltigten.

Ich erhebe mich,
zu den Höhen der Größe,
und dem Stolz auf mein Dasein,
bis du mich liebst.
