On Wednesday, 23 March 2022, Parenting Consultant and Educator Justine Kakoko represented children’s author Gloria D. Gonsalves at the handover ceremony of copies of the donated book Jai Albino Cow / Jai Ng’ombe Zeruzeru to the Tanzania Library Service Board (TLSB) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event took place at the children’s department in the National Central Library (Maktaba Kuu ya Taifa). Through TLSB, copies of this book will reach more children nationwide through its libraries.
The story of Jai the Albino Cow is about a cow with albinism and how she had a problem accepted in her community. But she was able to earn the respect of her fellow cattle because of her family’s love and acceptance of her uniqueness. The basis of this story is to acknowledge our uniqueness and show love and respect for everyone, even if their appearance is different.
Gratitudes to the Director General, Dr. Mboni Ruzegea, and Acting Director of Library Operations, Mr. Godfrey Ponera, for understanding the author’s intention and facilitating the outreach of this book message to the Tanzanian children. Mrs. Somo H. Mnubi, Acting Head of the Library and Student Services Unit (CSSD) of the National Central Library, represented the Director General.
Also on her behalf, the author’s mother and retired teacher, Theddy Gonsalves, and younger sister, Adela Msangi, were present too. The author is thankful to them for representing her.

KUKABIDHI KITABU CHA JAI NG’OMBE ZERUZERU

Jumatano, Machi 23, 2022, Mkufunzi na Mshauri wa masuala ya watoto Bw. Justine Kakoko alimwakilisha mwandishi wa vitabu vya watoto Bi. Gloria D. Gonsalves kwenye hafla ya kukabidhi nakala za kitabu cha Jai Ng’ombe Zeruzeru kwa Bodi ya Huduma ya Maktaba Tanzania (TLSB) jijini Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Hafla hiyo ilifanyika katika idara ya watoto katika Maktaba Kuu ya Taifa. Kupitia TLSB, nakala za kitabu hiki zitawafikia watoto wengi zaidi nchi nzima kupitia maktaba zake.
Hadithi ya Jai Ng’ombe Zeruzeru inamhusu ng’ombe mwenye ulemavu wa ngozi na alivyokuwa ana shida ya kukubalika katika jamii yake. Lakini aliweza kujiletea heshima kutoka kwa ng’ombe wenzie kwa sababu ya upendo wa familia yake pamoja na kukubali upekee wake. Msingi wa hii hadithi ni kukubali upekee wetu na kuonyesha upendo na heshima kwa kila mtu, hata kama mwonekano wao ni tofauti.

Mnubi, Kaimu Mkuu wa Kitengo cha Maktaba na Huduma za Wanafunzi (CSSD) wa Maktaba Kuu ya Taifa, alimwakilisha Mkurugenzi Mkuu.
