Today’s special early-bird prompt is to write a haibun! This poem is inspired by the wilting tulips next to my writing screen. And a day later, this poem was featured as having “a wonderfully dreamlike quality, and a lovely punctuating haiku.”
And on Friday morning, she walked the aisle of spring,
carpeted with petals of blooms: pink, yellow, white,
and rainbow, dreaming to find him at the altar of bliss.
But he wasn’t there waiting to be married in the routine
of expectations. She found him at home weaving sheets
of love threaded with poetry, songs, and letters.
in the spring moonlight
you are my chosen night queen
hurry home from church

I LOVE THIS!! So beautiful, the captivating line is “weaving sheets of love threaded with poetry, songs and letters”–and the final line, “hurry home from church” grabbed and blessed my heart. <3
Beautiful and tender imagery.
I love it! A fresh start 🙂
Thank you all for stopping by and reading. It is my first attempt of a haibun and I’m flattered it came through although written hurriedly on the Friday evening 🙂
Lovely and a great start to NapoWriMo! Feeling even more inspired and motivated to give haibun a shot!
So pretty – what a lovely start to NaPo!
Love this, it’s so pretty.
This one caught me (by the throat) and did not let go until I exhaled after the last line. A delight.
Very pretty. I love the unexpected.
Beautiful! Love the way the words are weaved.
+1
I was unfamiliar with the haibun, but am very inspired by what you wrote! This is a beautiful poem.
I was tortured by the prompt, but loved learning about it. I appreciate being able to read your efforts, and am inspired to work a bit at my descriptive phrases. 😉
I love this, especially the haiku at the very end! <3
This is gorgeous. Thank you.
Beautiful, tender, and delicate… I love this.
