GloPoWriMo/NaPoWriMo Early-Bird: Spring Wedding

Today’s special early-bird prompt is to write a haibun!  This poem is inspired by the wilting tulips next to my writing screen. And a day later, this poem was featured as having “a wonderfully dreamlike quality, and a lovely punctuating haiku.”

And on Friday morning, she walked the aisle of spring,
carpeted with petals of blooms: pink, yellow, white,
and rainbow, dreaming to find him at the altar of bliss.

But he wasn’t there waiting to be married in the routine
of expectations. She found him at home weaving sheets of
love threaded with poetry, songs, and letters.

in the spring moonlight
you are my chosen night queen
hurry home from church
